David Jones - CRO Lead

I lead the CRO team as CRO lead for David Jones.

I focus on the optimisation of the both the existing David Jones website to squeeze revenue as well as strategic contributions to innovations that drive new commercial growth.

My day to day involves mentoring and empowering my team, collaborating with senior stakeholders, strategic contributions to the roadmap, and a hands-on approach to delivering projects - conduction UX research, creating UI designs and developing experiments.

Key Achievements

  • Heavily contributed to the digital strategy and delivered the CRO roadmap which saw strong uplifts to commercial growth.
  • Introduced new processes for our test and learn A/B testing and development work.
  • In my tenure I have delivered dozens of successful A/B tests that have an average revenue uplift of 3.33%, multiple as high as 8%, and the biggest projects/experiments still to launch.
  • Project lead in 4 major initiatives:
    • Establishment of the digital Design System for David Jones which adheres to web accessibility standards set by w3.org.
    • Leading the project to re-do the David Jones navigation (WIP) and information architecture, leading UX workshops, research and UI design.
    • Digital personalisation strategy and the implementation of AI and Machine Learning across the core user journey.
    • Desktop product page re-work.
  • Rolled out the adoption of Figma throughout the David Jones business.
  • Worked with the UX team to establish the design thinking framework for use on UX research.

I led the UX team as UX manager for the Hanes Australasia business.

I oversaw ALL digital experiences projects for all the groups portfolio of brands within the Australasian market.

End to end project delivery working with core business divisions such as data, marketing, design and development teams.

Key Achievements

  • End to end delivery of over 60 projects that performed well in A/B testing.
  • Implemented UX frameworks and created a standard for UX work.
  • Adopted Google's design sprint methodology.
  • Established and grew the UX team.
  • Created the design system used by Bonds, Berlei and BNT which met WCAG AA standards.

Initially hired as a UX developer I was promoted to become UX manager. I oversaw the execution of all digital projects for all brands.

I reported to the digital project manager and would perform all UX research and non-campaign UI design for each project presenting designs to senior stakeholders.

I worked with the development team to see each project through from inception to completion.

Key Achievements

  • Completed entire site re-launches for the Review, White Runway and Black Pepper brands in charge of all UX research and UI design.
  • Launched garment personalisation for White Runway.
  • Oversaw the implementation of Algolia search, Bazaar voice reviews and the Braintree payment gateway.
  • Overhauled the email marketing design approach increasing open and click through rates.

Bureau of Meteorology - UI Designer

I came to the Bureau of Meteorology as a contractor to find opportunities to improve the user experience based on already completed user research for the floods and forecasting sections of the website.

  • Designed new experiences based on pre-existing UX research.

Bencha Group - E-commerce Manager

Bencha Group is a small startup in which I reported to the directors of the group.

My role was to manage a small team consisting of one developer, one marketer, and two designers, as well as create and execute the digital growth strategies.

This was a hands-on role where I would assist in design, development, photography and marketing.

Key Achievements

  • Transformed and re-launched the Hippo Blue and Cupcake Central website following UX & SEO best practices. I created all style guides and branding, website design, marketing assets, re-shot all photography and re-wrote website copy.
  • I set-up the Hippo Blue re-marketing strategy, strategies for email list growth, social growth, connected affiliate partners and set up the relationship with an SEM agency.
  • After the executing the above Hippo Blue saw the following YOY growth:
    • Website desktop conversion rates grow from 6.10% to 14.11%.
    • E-mail list growth went up 24%.
    • EDM click through rates grew from 2.0% to 3.7%.
    • Facebook likes per day grew from a receding amount to an average +100 per day.

Vocus Group - Web Developer / Lead Designer

Started off at Vocus as just 'designer' but was eventually promoted to become lead designer.

Managed and mentored the company owned off-shore team of three designers and one developer.

  • Designed and launched the Aquire AP website.
  • Launched the No Worries website.
  • Designed and developed product landing pages and split test changes in Unbounce.
  • Provided volunteer work for a not for profit organisation.

Method Studios - Mid Level Designer

Where it all began for me as a junior designer.

After years of work in the business and after learning many important skills I was eventually promoted to Mid level designer.

I created work for key clients including Nike, Icon Films, Paramount Pictures, Warner Brothers, Australian Film Institute and more.
